Yr 10 MUSIC: SK8R BOI

  Avril Lavigne Sk8R Boi is our second music video. We study:

  • how the genre of her music comes across in the music video's media language

  • this means the style of editing, the pace, the way she uses the camera to engage her audience, the lighting and colours
  • representation in the video - of LA, of Lavigne, of her gang, in particular, the mise-en-scène

POLICE PROCEDURAL GENRE CONVENTIONS


 Today in media we discussed the police procedural genre conventions, we compared the two police TV shows Endeavour and Cuffs. 

We identified and discussed mise-en-scene such as: locations, clothing, lighting, weapons and ranks. 


We found that cuffs was much more family friendly and all though violence was hinted it was not shown whereas Endeavour was very violent and meant for an older audience. 

Another important thing we noticed was the differences in era and how that affected the characters for example, Endeavour was set in a much older era and so there were no black, gay or female police, but cuffs was very diverse
